• Red: Represents the warmth and vitality of the people of Trinidad and Tobago, the sun, and the land's energy. It also signifies courage and strength.

• Black: Symbolizes the land's wealth, the people's dedication, and the strength of purpose in unity.

• White: Represents the sea surrounding the islands, as well as purity, equality, and the aspirations of the people.

Together, these colours symbolize the elements of earth (black), fire (red), and water (white), reflecting the nation’s vibrant spirit, strength, and unity.
